Over the last few years, Centurion has taken several steps to reconfigure its health plan to be more in line with the Health Rosetta philosophy. The HR director, after attending Rosetta Fest 2023, decided to implement several strategies to improve the plan. At the same time, Centurion engaged in an extensive RFP process to obtain a new benefits consultant who was more in line with the company’s values and experienced in implementing Health Rosetta concepts. To address the challenge of having employees dispersed throughout the country and traveling among job sites, the company has invested in virtual primary care and urgent care services, and identifying high-quality providers. It has also explored more cost-effective pharmacy solutions and hired a new PBM to ensure transparency in service and realize savings. The company’s three-year strategy includes creating a more flexible benefits ecosystem and engaging in Direct Primary Care networks. The leadership team is committed to providing the best possible benefits package at the best price for employees and their families. Future plans include investing in a sophisticated benefits administration system and creating more targeted employee engagement communication strategies.

The organization faced a difficult renewal because of a very high-cost cancer medication. When facing the challenging stop loss renewal and the immense financial impact to the organization, Old Town leadership dove in with us to see if we could work with the patient, their doctors, the TPA, and the PBM to move this medication to a different site of care that would reduce the infusion cost from $26,000 every two weeks to $9,000. This was a challenging conversation and situation to navigate, but Old Town’s leadership team was unwilling to let the facility and their drug upcharge financially impact all their employees so drastically. Old Town was incredibly helpful in ensuring that the employee also taken care of during the transition.
