Health Rosetta Advisor since 2023
In 2020, Joe was invited to become a partner with Frontier Direct Care as the organization began expanding across South Texas. Over the past three years, the team has grown to seven clinics serving nearly 10,000 members, working closely with several employer groups along the way. Through these relationships, Joe recognized that the local advisor community was often ill-equipped to support businesses transitioning to self-funding or implementing direct primary care (DPC).
Under Joe’s leadership, the team quickly became the local experts in direct contracting and DPC-centric plans, advising multiple agencies on how to better serve their clients. As Chief Growth Officer, Joe identified the need for a health plan designed to integrate seamlessly with DPC. That vision is now becoming a reality with the launch of Frontier Health Plans, created to empower local agents with better tools and solutions for their clients.
In January of 2022, the city had made significant steps towards solving the access issue by partnering with a local Fee For Service clinic and imaging center. However, costs continued to trend poorly and employees weren't taking advantage of resources. Joe Wilson and Frontier Direct Care were introduced to the City of McAllen Emp Benefits Director, Jolee Perez by the Salazar Insurance Group, who assisted with their annual enrollments.
Within 6 months, Jolee immersed herself in the Direct Primary Care model presented by Frontier. Fully committed to the project, she gathered stakeholder support, hosting several onsites tours and a city hall meeting with civic leadership. Jolee was successful in recommending Frontier as the preferred DPC partner for their plan, and in June of 2022 City Council had approved her recommendation and implementation began for the October 1st, 2022 Plan year. Jolee went above and beyond coordinating and collaborating with Frontier to host 100+ meetings with every department, making sure every employee understood how to engage their new Frontier membership.
2 years and $8MM+ in estimated savings later, Jolee has become a pillar of advocacy for Direct Primary Care, Direct Contracting, and Direct Pharmacy. She continues to share her journey and successes alongside Frontier through the Free Market Medical Association, Health Action Council, TML, and dozens of other Lunch & Learns supporting our greater Rio Grande Valley community in South Texas. Due to her leadership and advocacy, other cities in the area are experiencing the same dynamic shift in healthcare delivery while reducing overall costs, including the City of Brownsville, City of Pharr, & City of LaFeria.
