Don’s role is to oversee the market growth strategy of Western Pennsylvania. As the employee benefits industry is ever changing in the marketplace, Don helps guide Alera Group to continue to be a leader by providing creative and innovative ways to advise their client base. Don has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years. Prior to joining the Alera team, Don was the Managing Principal of the Employee Benefits Division for Simpson & McCrady in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He began his career with Northwestern Mutual Life and learned the group insurance business at Aetna before going into private practice and becoming an independent advisor. Don has provided insurance brokerage and consulting services to over 1,000 companies resulting in millions of dollars in employer premium & claims savings. He has coached and mentored account management and sales teams. Don has provided numerous lectures and has taught courses for the Society for Human Resources (SHRM), and he is an Accredited Continuing Education Instructor in the State of Pennsylvania. Committed to the industry he serves, Don is an active member, Past-President and Treasurer of the National Association of Health Underwriters, Pittsburgh Chapter.
